Coronavirus News

A Message from the Reverend Burton Ott
Dear FUMC family,
We praise God that we are reopening our church to in person worship on September 6th! You will find attached the guidelines and requirements for you to attend. We will continue providing worship via Facebook and our FUMC webpage for those of us who are more vulnerable and not planning to return to the sanctuary at this time.
As you see from the guidelines, our worship will be quite different than “normal.” We have roped off every other pew. This means that we cannot sit wherever we want. Please follow the usher as he directs you to your seat. We have planned the seating to minimize walking near others.
In one of our churches in the district, a person took the Covid test on Friday, went to church on Sunday, called the pastor on Tuesday to report a positive test. The church had to close for the next Sunday because all those exposed were having to quarantine. So if you have had a recent Covid test or have one scheduled, please do not come to church until you receive a negative result.
We will not have Sunday school, children’s church, or nursery. The Friendship Class invites you to join them on Zoom at 9:30, Sunday mornings. We will announce and email you any changes.
One final thing - pray! Pray for our church family and for those of us who will gather in person on the 6th. Pray for God’s Grace and Guidance.
Even though your face will be partially covered by a mask, I can’t wait to see you and be a part of the fellowship of believers!

First United Methodist Church Re-Gathering In-Person Guidelines:
1. Masks - All attendees will be required to wear a mask while in the building. Please bring your own mask if you have one. Masks will be available if needed.
2. Entry/ Exiting the building - We will use the ramp door and the other back door to the sanctuary as well as the front door. Please wait outside 6 ft apart until an usher comes to escort you to your seat. The ushers will also escort you out. You are encouraged to come early to be seated. We will continue to lock all 3 doors at 11 o’clock. If you are running late please come to the front door and an usher will escort you in to a seat.
3. Sanitizer Stations will be at each of the 3 entrances to the sanctuary building. Please use the hand sanitizer as you enter.
4. Temperature Check - We will be checking your temperature as you enter.
5. Social Distancing/ No Physical Contact - Please stay 6ft apart and we must refrain from hugs and handshakes... let’s figure a way to show our love from 6ft..
General Information and Expectations
Tithes and Offerings - the offering plates will be at each entrance.
The Worship Service - will be shorter than usual. This may be the hardest adjustment for those of us that love to hear a sermon that goes way past noon....
No congregational singing, although humming, toe tapping, and clapping are very much encouraged..
No Sunday School or nursery for the short term. You are very much encouraged to join The Friendship Class on Zoom at 9:30 each Sunday. Call the office to get connected.
